Updates
01/07/2008
It's been almost a year now since I last played Furcadia with any real
participation within my old Beekin groups, or with the prospect of creating
dreams.
Due to massive spam problems with the Firebook Guest Book I've decided to
simply take it offline permanently now, along with the fact it was never
used.
This site will remain online encase it
will still be used in the future, however if it does not reach 3k hits by
September it will be taken offline.
I've learnt a lot more about HTML, and PHP since originally starting this site
but as it is currently do not have the time, nor the will to re-design these
pages.
Anyone wishing to continue the project themselves are welcome to use the text
given in the tutorials below.
My work continues with a different project
called the Regnum Journal; a newspaper like project for
Kapi-Regnum.
You can find me there under the name Therian on the forums, or
Candrakar in game.
And no, my For Life digo items on
Furcadia are not for sale, nor will they be gifted.
If I were to sell them the money would only end up paying for extra graphics
somewhere else.

Object Data Files
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/objectdata.html
While not explicitly a tutorial, it details "special objects" and their
hard-coded properties.
The guide details most objects and what they do when used in a dream.
Variables & Arrays - A New Look tutorial
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/variables.htm
A basic tutorial based around
variables and arrays, the tutorial describes some basic information about
variables
and the arrays that go with them, for some codes it gives some basic examples on
how the lines can be used
and a link to a sticky-post on the
Furcadia Community Forums
which gives several examples of
"Frequency Asked Questions" in it's DragonSpeak section, most of which use
variables in the coding.
Wall Objects - items as Walls
Credits to: Dreamless Dancer
http://www.geocities.com/dreammakersguild/wobjects/wobjects.htm
An advanced tutorial with details on how to create a special kind of
wall.
Since some objects behave strangely and get covered by a normal wall Dreamless
Dancer decided
To explain one situation she had in the past into a tutorial and how she
overcame that obstacle.
The term WObjects has been used long before this however and basically
means Wall Objects.
The meaning behind this is that it is a wall, used in an item patch.
They may or may not also have an additional shape on top of them to make a
single shape
Such as a roof or lamp. WObjects are very useful but can be quite complicated to
create.
This tutorial is more suited for those who have prior knowledge of creating
patches.
DragonSpeak - A New Beginning
(Updated: 10th Jan, 06)
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/Speakingwithdragons.htm
A tutorial on "what is dragonspeak" and how to use it, explaining about the
difficulty levels in the dragonspeak editor
as well as giving a few basic examples, there are also some links to websites
with dragonspeak "snippets" that
require no, or little editation, both for the new & old dragon-speakers of
today.
Creating your first dream
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/firstdream.htm
A tutorial on how to create your first dream. Includes details on explaining
exactly what a "dream" is,
details on the dreameditor screen, placing shapes and useful tips in dream

Skin Editor Tutorial
http://www.headexplosion.com/kotra/skinnertutorial.htm

A marvellous tutorial to the basic use of the Skin Editor program used to
create and change the view
of the furcadia screen. The tutorial includes details on resizing, arranging and
all the special objects.

http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/combine.htm <--

http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/fshcombine.html
<-- Test Based.
A tutorial designed for combining two or more patches - creating them on a new,
single file for use within dreams

of patching dreams.
This tutorial also includes: Installing patches, Using the FSH Editor for
beginning users.
And for those more advantages patchers; details on the colour-swap technique and

And Much More! Unfortunately small pieces of the data and the file-list are out
of date.
Installing Patches to dreams
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/InstallPatches.htm
A Beginners tutorial on installing patches to their dreams.
This tutorial explains everything from downloading
to unzipping, and adding the patches to the dreams.
Remember when editing the default patch files, Refer to the
Object Data Files
A number of objects have hard-coded properties and will effect these shapes even
if edited.
Another tutorial is also available at
http://dh.8k.com/f/addpatch.htm
Created by Darkhorse Pterid.
Although I use some of the same images on the above tutorial; credit goes to
Darkhorse for those images.
Installing Music to dreams
http://www.mysticallands.com/tutorials/InstallSounds.htm
A Beginners tutorial on installing music to their dreams.
This tutorial explains a small Q & A
section
based on questions asked by real furres.
The tutorial explains
how to install such files, and some dragonspeak example-lines on how to play
them,
Small examples of
frequently-asked questions such as "how to loop" & "stopping play" are also
included.
FSH-Editor - An in-dept usage guide
http://furctuts.topcities.com/fshbas1.htm
Credits to: Dream's Requiem
A in-dept guide to the FSH Editor program, although this was designed for the
Gryffe Edition of furcadia.
However, everything is basically
the same as the current version, there have been
Some additional features that this guide does not currently cover.
These features however are a little more advanced then the standard features.
Portrait Design
There are several tutorials around for creating portraits for use on furcadia.
I've compiled a select few in a list below that I have read or used myself and
found useful.
Although it may be a good idea to view them all as they all explain things
differently.
All three tutorials below are just basically just large images with text and
other smaller images used
To help explain the methods used by their creators to design different
portraits.
These tutorials all concentrate on designing portraits from scratch.
